Title: Tumbling Figure: Five Stages Artist: Michael C. Spafford Location: 415 Sixth Avenue Medium: Aluminum Descr: A heroic vision - the story of human endeavor - is the essence of this artwork. Inspired by the story of Daedalus and his son Icarus, the work warns of the exuberance of youth and consequences of straying from the middle path. It reminds us that we may lose our way when we forget the important lessons of life. It was initially created for installation in the Kingdome in 1980. After some restoration work, the piece was reinstalled in 2005 by King County 4Culture at a new parking garage. |
